THERE'S STILL TIME TO GET SCHEDULED FOR 2009 TARPON SEASON Get your name on my calendar for the 2009 tarpon season. The season can run through June and well into the month of July. Don't miss the opportunity to hook into a big Silver King (tarpon) on fly. Keep in mind, you don't have to be an expert fly caster just to catch a tarpon --- you don't have to cast 80 to 90 feet to put the fly in front of the tarpon --- you don't even have to have cast an 11 weight or 12 weight rod before. With my excellent equipment, along with my expert instruction, I can guide you through the casting, the hooking and fighting techniques. You, too, can catch a tarpon on fly! Click on "Tarpon" in the menu below and get the full picture. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ NEWS FLASH!!! NEWS FLASH!!! NEWS FLASH!!! Joyce and I are part of a new free online magazine called: Backcast Magazine. It's not like any other fly fishing magazine you've read. As you read it online, sitting in your chair, it's easy to put yourself right there on the water experiencing the complete realm of a fishing trip to exotic locales or destinations near your home town. Sure, catching fish is a big part of a trip, but there are so many factors that make it a complete journey. Pictures and artwork, silver and gold jewelry, vineyards and gardens dot the shopping landscape exposing the region's history along with today's way of life while strolling through the local town. We search for and find the small restaurants featuring native cuisine. After a tasty meal, imagine the sweet aroma of a fine spirit or wine along with the aromatic puffs of a hand-rolled cigar slowly drifting toward the open doorway of an eatery or lodge. Actually, a reader of the magazine doesn't even have to be a fly fisherman to enjoy and savor the flavor of all the magazine offers. Subscribe to the free magazine and enter a drawing for a fishing trip with us in Key West for next year. This gives you plenty of time to schedule your trip of a lifetime - casting to permit, bonefish and tarpon. We provide the guided fishing, lodging and meals. All you have to do is get to and from Key West. Take a look at the prototype and subscribe by September 1st to be eligible for the drawing - www.backcastonline.com. The first issue of the magazine will be out August 1st. The magazine's blog is going to be a great fishing network. We're excited about sharing many aspects of the fly fishing arena with you. Cast us an email with any questions: CaptFlyRod@aol.com.
As Zane Grey said: "There are always greater fish than you have caught, always the lure of greater task and achievement, always the inspiration to seek, to endure, to find." ________________________________________________________________________ TARPON - REDFISH - SNOOK - SPOTTED SEATROUT - SHARKS - KINGFISH - SPANISH MACKEREL - COBIA - AND MANY MORE SANIBEL/CAPTIVA/FT. READ ABOUT THE CLASSIC "KEYS" FISHING I OFFER JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 2010 This year (2009), I won't be fishing in Key West for the first time in over 20 years due to last minute problems with accommodations. I am already booking the 2010 season and would like to see YOU hooked up to permit, bonefish and tarpon.
If you can't fit a trip to Southwest Florida into your schedule, I offer some exciting fly fishing in Key West you might be interested in. There, my anglers find challenging fly fishing for permit, bonefish and tarpon. Around July 1st, I leave the west coast of Florida, pack up my gear and head to Key West for 3 months (July to October). Believe it or not, Key West is not that hot in the summer - it's several degrees cooler than Sanibel/Captiva, lighter winds and there just aren't many anglers impacting the flats. There are days when I'm fishing the Marquesas Islands (west of Key West) when I don't even see another boat. I just see tailing permit and bonefish, and tarpon cruising the shallows - waiting to intercept a fly cast to them. You have plenty of time to make plans and get on my schedule for the 2010 season in Key West. CLICK ON KEY WEST PHOTO GALLERY IT SHOWS A FEW OF THE FISH CAUGHT Fly rodders mistakenly think a trip out of the country is the only way to go. NOT SO! The finest fishing in the world for permit is out of the Key West area. Look at the IGFA World Record Book which shows the majority of the permit records have been set there. Every one of my regular customers who have fished with me there have caught permit on fly. That's the ultimate - permit on fly! I've put together a package deal which includes guided fishing, lodging and meals. An opportunity for you to bring your fishing buddies for classic "Keys" fly fishing. If your buddy doesn't fly fish I haven't forgotten how to guide spin fishermen. It's great fun to cast shrimp, crabs or artificials to permit, bonefish and tarpon. I meet you at the airport so you don't even have to rent a car! Makes for a very convenient way to fish the Key West area. What most of my fly fishermen like about it is they don't have to travel thousands of miles out of the country to experience the thrill of casting to permit, bonefish and tarpon for their trip of a lifetime! Oh yeah, another thing they really like is my wife's (Joyce) cooking. Get in touch with me if you want the opportunity to expand your fishing experience to include the Key West area for permit, bonefish and tarpon. Let's get you scheduled for the summer of 2010.
