CAPT. MIKE REHR SOUTHWEST

FLORIDA FLY FISHING GUIDE

"FLY FISHING IS WHAT I DO"   "FLY FISHING IS WHAT I DO"   "FLY FISHING IS WHAT I DO"

Capt. Mike Rehr was raised fishing out of North Miami and moved to Sanibel Island in the mid 70's to continue the pursuit of his fishing passion.  He's a shallow-water, flats fly-fishing guide who specializes in Tarpon, Redfish, Snook and Seatrout fishing in the clear waters surrounding Sanibel and Captiva Islands.

For a different fly fishing experience, in the summer when the Gulf of Mexico is consistently calm, my customers enjoy going offshore targeting Permit, Barracuda, Blackfin Tuna, Bonito, Kingfish, Mackerel, Cobia, Tripletail - just to name a few.  What a hoot on fly!

With Mike's extensive knowledge and skill, gained through more than 30 years of fishing and guiding, he says he loves to teach fly fishing as much as guiding.  His clients acquire an insight to the art of fly casting and fly fishing from the cast to the fight, to the catch and the release.  Capt. Mike enables his fly fishing anglers to achieve a high level of fly-fishing performance.  Fly fishing with Mike is truly a learning experience.

When Mike talks about hunting and stalking fish in clear waters with a fly rod, his enthusiasm and excitement is contagious.  He says that fly fishing in saltwater has become his first love -- just don't tell his bride.  He spent years learning as much as he could about the art of fly fishing before he took out his first fly fishing client.  His motto is "Fly fishing is what I do".

Mike is a long-time Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) Certified Fly Casting Instructor as well as a Certified Master Naturalist (University of Florida).  Mike is recognized as one of the top saltwater fly fishing guides in the state of Florida and has spoken to numerous fishing clubs, conducted his own fly fishing schools, given seminars at several fishing shows about the sport of saltwater fly fishing and writes a weekly Saltwater Fly Fishing column for a local publication.

He says: "through hard work and dedication, it's nice having developed a reputation as a good fly fishing guide where I've been featured in books, magazine articles, newspaper columns and on television shows world-wide.  It's been overwhelming, yet at the same time, flattering.  It's nice to get recognition for my accomplishments".
